Graham Collins is a Part-time Lecturer in the Painting Department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts University. His academic role includes teaching in the Degree Program at SMFA, focusing on painting and interdisciplinary art practices. Collins holds a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art (2003) and an MFA from Bard College (2010).
His research interests and artistic practice center on painting, sculpture, and mixed media, often exploring themes of material transformation, labor, and social systems. Notable works include installations and sculptures combining found materials, ceramics, and traditional painting techniques. Recent solo exhibitions include Workers Playtime (2024, Halsey McKay Gallery, Brooklyn) and Reclaimed Paintings (2021, Halsey McKay Gallery). Group exhibitions span venues like NADA x Foreland (2021), The Journal Gallery (Brooklyn), and international spaces such as Bjørn & Gundorph (Denmark) and Almine Rech (Belgium).
Collins’ work has been featured in publications including The New Yorker, Bedford + Bowery, and ARTnews. His artistic process frequently involves repurposing discarded materials, as seen in his Chronological Sky series (2018–2021), which stitches fragments of found paintings into abstract compositions.
He currently lives and works in New York, represented by Halsey McKay Gallery.
