Jamie Peter Monat

Dr. Jamie Peter Monat is a Teaching Professor of Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), affiliated with the Electrical & Computer Engineering department and cross-listed with Systems Engineering and the Business School. He holds a BS in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences from Princeton (1973), an MS (1974) and PhD (1978) in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. With over 19 years of teaching experience at WPI, he specializes in Risk Management, Systems Thinking, and Business Practices. His industry background includes executive roles at Harvard Clinical Technology, Business Growth Specialists, Inc., Pall Corporation, and Koch Membrane Systems, spanning medical devices, environmental technologies, and business consulting.

Dr. Monat’s research focuses on systems thinking applications, self-organization in natural systems, and risk analysis.
