Dr. Jamie L. Nix serves as Professor of Music and Director of Wind Ensemble Activities at Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music, holding the Hal J. Gibson Distinguished Chair in Conducting since joining the institution in 2010. He leads the nationally acclaimed Schwob Wind Ensemble and heads the graduate wind band conducting program while hosting the Annual Conductors Workshop.
His academic credentials include a Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, dual Master of Music degrees in Trombone Performance and Conducting from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Music Performance from Auburn University.
Dr. Nix specializes in Wind Band Conducting, Orchestral Conducting, and Music Education, with expertise spanning wind ensemble performance, conducting pedagogy, and wind band literature development. His work bridges educational and professional music settings through extensive conducting engagements with prestigious ensembles across North America and international festivals.

His leadership has resulted in performances at major conferences including CBDNA National, GMEA State, and multiple All-State Band events across the United States.
