James Yoon serves as a Professor of Linguistics, East Asian Languages and Cultures, and affiliated with the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Illinois (1989) and a BA in English Language and Literature from Seoul National University (1980). His research focuses on syntax, morphology, second language acquisition, and linguistic studies of Korean and Japanese. He teaches courses such as LING 301: Elements of Syntax and LING 501: Syntax I.
