James W Williams

James W. Williams is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Science at York University, serving as Undergraduate Program Director for Criminology. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology (York University), an M.A. in Social and Political Thought (York University), and a B.A. Honours in Social Behaviour (Queen's University). His research focuses on financial regulation, the socio-economic impacts of financialization, and the role of new technologies in crime prevention and regulatory frameworks.

Williams' work has been published in journals such as the British Journal of Criminology, Environment and Planning A, and Science, Technology, and Human Values. He is the author of Policing the Markets: Inside the Black Box of Securities Enforcement (Routledge, 2012). His current projects explore how technological advancements shape regulatory practices and corporate accountability.
