Timothy Bryan

Timothy Bryan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on policing of hate crime, race and racism, Black Canadian Studies, and criminal justice reform in Canada. He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. in Socio-Legal Studies and Criminology/Sociology from York University.

His work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Hate Studies, Oñati Socio-Legal Series, and Canadian Journal of Law and Society. He has also contributed to policy research for the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and Nova Scotia’s Department of Justice.

Bryan teaches courses including SOC205H5, SOC326H5, and SOC448H5, emphasizing critical engagement with sociological and criminological issues.
