Dr. James Umble is Professor of Saxophone at Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music, part of the College of Creative Arts and Communication. He has earned international recognition as a teacher, soloist, clinician, chamber musician, and author. The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Donald Rosenberg praised his elegance and virtuosity, while his Distinguished Professor Award for Teaching highlights his pedagogical excellence. He performs globally with his chamber trio and collaborates with jazz faculty like Dr. Kent Engelhardt and Dave Kana.
