Dr. James Hopkins is an NCAS scientist specializing in Gas Phase Atmospheric Chemistry within the Wolfson Atmospheric Chemistry Laboratories at the University of York's Department of Chemistry. His research focuses on improving the quality of volatile organic compound (VOC) observations to understand atmospheric processes in diverse environments.
Research interests center on the roles of VOCs in human health impacts, formation of ground-level ozone, secondary aerosols, and greenhouse effects. Field studies include VOC source profiling in Beijing, emissions from biomass burning, and biogenic emissions in Borneo's tropical forests.
