James H. Wyckoff

James H. Wyckoff is the Curry Memorial Professor of Education and Policy and Director of the Center for Education Policy and Workforce Competitiveness at the University of Virginia. His research focuses on teacher labor markets, preparation, recruitment, assessment, retention, and evaluation systems, particularly their impact on classroom quality in low-performing settings. He collaborates with policymakers in New York City, New York State, and the District of Columbia.

Wyckoff has served on four National Research Council panels addressing teacher preparation and school lunch programs, chaired the Association for Education Finance and Policy, and contributed to the Policy Council of the Association of Public Policy Analysis and Management. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His editorial roles include membership on the board of Education Finance and Policy. His work bridges economic analysis with practical policy solutions to enhance educational systems and workforce competitiveness.
