James E. Salzman is the Donald Bren Distinguished Professor at UCLA Law School and the UCSB School of the Environment. His research focuses on environmental law and policy, including water law, climate infrastructure, and ecosystem services. He holds a B.A. in History from Yale College (1985), a J.D. from Harvard Law School (1989), and an M.Sc. in Engineering Sciences and Applied Physics from Harvard (1990). Notable awards include Fellowships from the Royal Geographical Society and the American College of Environmental Lawyers. Salzman teaches courses like International Environmental Law and has authored influential books such as *Drinking Water: A History* and *Mine!*. His recent work addresses the legal challenges of accelerating climate infrastructure while balancing environmental and equity goals.
