Professor Jakelin Troy is a leading figure in Indigenous research at The University of Sydney, serving as Director of the Indigenous Research Portfolio. She is affiliated with the School of Arts and Social Sciences and Department of Anthropology, with memberships in the Sydney Centre for Healthy Societies, Sydney Environment Institute, Sydney Policy Lab, Brain and Mind Centre, and Charles Perkins Centre.
Her research focuses on Indigenous language documentation and revitalization, including Australian Aboriginal languages and those of Pakistan (Saraiki, Torwali). She advocates for Indigenous research methodologies and community engagement, leading ARC Discovery Projects on Aboriginal missions and corroboree practices. Recent work explores planetary health frameworks through Indigenous paradigms.
Her publications span 2025–1994, with 15 most recent works addressing topics like bioethics for the planet, digital tools for child development, and First Nations approaches to chemistry. She collaborates on global projects in diverse cultural settings.
Current students include Victoria Bonilla-Baez, I-yun Cheng, Samuel Herriman, and Corinne Vernizeau. She holds leadership grants from the Australian Research Council and Charles Perkins Centre, with a focus on Indigenous health and planetary futures.
