Jake Bromage holds a secondary appointment as Associate Professor at The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, while serving as Senior Scientist and Group Leader for the Laser Technology Development group at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE). His dual roles bridge academic instruction and cutting-edge laser research infrastructure development.
Education:
- BSc in Physics, University of St. Andrews, Scotland (1991)
- PhD in Optics, Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (1999)
His research specializes in ultrafast and ultra-intense laser systems, with emphasis on optical parametric amplification techniques and advanced laser diagnostics. Work centers on developing next-generation technologies for the OMEGA facility at LLE, particularly advancing petawatt-class laser capabilities for high-energy density physics applications.
As Group Leader since 2014, he directs the Laser Technology Development group responsible for the OMEGA EP laser system's construction and operational enhancements, focusing on pushing intensity frontiers in laser-matter interaction research.
