Brian Kruschwitz is an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester's Institute of Optics and a Senior Scientist at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech (1992) and PhD in Optics from the University of Rochester (1997). His career spans roles at NASA Langley Research Center, Eastman Kodak Co., and the Laboratory for Laser Energetics.

Dr. Kruschwitz specializes in high-energy laser systems and optical engineering, with technical expertise in adaptive optics, laser diagnostics, and MICRO-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS). He has contributed to diverse projects including lidar remote sensing, film scanners, and petawatt-class laser systems.
Notable achievements include the CTO Patent Award from Eastman Kodak for earning 20 U.S. patents, and leadership roles in the development of the OMEGA EP laser system. He currently oversees laser system science for both the 60-beam OMEGA laser and the OMEGA EP laser system.
