Jagdish Chouhan is an Associate Professor at De Montfort University in the School of Applied Social Sciences, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. He has been a full-time academic since 2002 and leads MA programmes in Youth Work and Community Development, also serving as Admissions Leader. He plays a key role in DMU's internationalization agenda as Faculty International Country Co-ordinator for South Asia and leads global field trips to locations including New York, Florida, and Ahmedabad.

- PhD – Title: ‘The Communication Environment of the Gujarati Community in Leicester’ (1991)
- MA in Community Education (including JNC professional qualification)
- BA (Hons) in Social Analysis
- CELTA – Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
His research and teaching focus on youth work, community development, and social justice. He is passionate about anti-oppressive practice, equality, diversity, and empowering marginalized communities. His work bridges theory and practice, informed by his early career as a community educator in Leicester. He is affiliated with the Young People Research Group and actively contributes to international academic dialogue.
The articles reflect a strong thematic consistency across two decades, emphasizing critical pedagogy, youth empowerment, anti-oppressive frameworks, and the role of education in social transformation. His work increasingly engages with international collaboration and experiential learning, as seen in his 2020 publication on partnership learning communities through student field trips.

Jagdish has supervised and led postgraduate teaching in youth and community development, advising numerous students through MA dissertations. He is actively involved in research dissemination through international conferences in China and Bulgaria, presenting on Marxism, intercultural communication, and youth education.
