Professor Jacquie White is a Professor of Nursing and Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Hull, part of the Faculty of Health Sciences. She is also an experienced PhD supervisor and examiner. Her roles have included Associate Dean Education (2015–2020), Mental Health Strategy Lead (2020–2023), and Interim Head of the School of PPAP. She is a Registered Mental Health Nurse since 1986 and has led pioneering work on mental health nursing practice, including co-designing the Health Improvement Profile (HIP), now used globally to improve physical health outcomes for individuals with severe mental illness.
Education: BSc (University of Hull), PGCert (University of Hull), PhD (University of East Anglia).
Research focuses on mental health nursing, medication management, interventions for serious mental illness, and public health initiatives for child/adolescent mental health. She emphasizes interdisciplinary education and student mental health wellbeing.
Awards include the 2017 Hull University Union Student-Led Teaching Award for Outstanding Achievement and a 2010–2011 Faculty Research Fellowship. She leads projects like the HeadStart Hull Independent Evaluation (2017–2021), funded by the Local Government Association (£194,760).
Current supervision includes studies on Syrian refugee adolescents’ mental health and treatment decision-making in rheumatoid arthritis patients. She is affiliated with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Research (CAMHR).
