Dr Charlotte Emma Wray Kitchen is a Research Fellow at the University of York's Department of Health Sciences. She works with the Centre of Excellence in Behavioural Activation (CEBA), a collaboration between Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust and the University of York. Her research focuses on improving adolescent mental health through Behavioural Activation (BA) and addressing equitable access to psychological therapies. She has contributed to studies on BA for depression, healthcare costs in comorbid diabetes and mental illness, and self-management behaviors in serious mental illness.

Her methodological expertise spans qualitative research and mixed methods applied within clinical trials. Recent work investigates how social inequalities affect psychotherapy delivery for adolescents. She collaborates with teams such as the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group, DIAMONDS team, and Public Health and Society Research Group.
Key publications include analyses of BA implementation barriers, healthcare cost disparities, and health self-management determinants. She has received the British Psychological Society Postgraduate Fellowship Award and conducted research placements in the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology.
