Jacqui Robertson is a Lecturer at Griffith Law School affiliated with the Australian Rivers Institute and Law Futures Centre. She holds a PhD from Griffith University (2016-2019) and prior qualifications including a BCom and LLB(Hons) from the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on inclusive water governance with specialization in environmental, resources, and planning law. Robertson has over 20 years' legal practice experience in mining, energy, and water-related legal issues, including advising government departments on land use and water quality matters.
Her research interests include water governance in extractive industries, managed aquifer recharge policies, and challenges in regulating the Great Artesian Basin. Recent projects examine corporate water stewardship in mining and hydrogen industry integration into Queensland's water framework. She has published extensively on topics like groundwater management, legislative mechanisms for aquifer recharge, and comparative governance models between Australia and the US.
Robertson is involved in funded research including a 2023-2024 project on renewable energy post-mining land use and a 2021-2022 consultancy for water legislation development in Lao PDR. She teaches Associations & Corporations Law and Urban Planning Law at Griffith University, and supervises doctoral research on public benefit corporations. Her affiliations include the Australian Rivers Institute (2024-present) and membership in Griffith's Arts Education and Law Group.
