Jacqueline Launders

Jacqueline Launders is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at the Department of Teacher Education, University of Sheffield Hallam. She specializes in mathematics education and teacher training, overseeing school placements for School Direct, PGCE, and undergraduate programs. Her roles include Academic Tutor and NCETM Professional Development Lead.

She holds a BEd (Honours) and MSc, with professional recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Her teaching focuses on primary mathematics pedagogy for initial teacher trainees. Prior to academia, she served as a Numeracy Coordinator, Deputy Head Teacher, and Acting Head Teacher in primary schools across Newcastle upon Tyne and Nottinghamshire.

Research interests center on children’s attitudes toward mathematics and their impact on academic performance, peer-assisted learning strategies for trainees, and the implementation of mastery approaches in mathematics teaching. Professional activities include supervising trainees and contributing to mathematics education initiatives through NCETM.
