Kathryn Baillie

Kathryn Baillie is a Senior Lecturer in Early Years and Primary Education at the Department of Teacher Education, part of the College of Social Sciences and Arts at Sheffield Hallam University. She teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate courses (3-7 and 5-11 Education QTS) and serves as the Foundation Subjects Leader. Her roles include mentor training, placement coordination, and moderation of lesson observations across mainstream and SEND school settings. She transitioned to full-time academia in 2013 after 30 years of teaching experience, including leadership roles in Sheffield primary schools and work as a Primary DT advisory teacher.

Teaching & Research Interests: Focuses on inclusive education (behavior/social-emotional literacy), foundation subjects (history/geography), and professional learning. Current projects include:

• Enhancing trainee assessment practices (TS2/TS6)
