Jacqueline Henninger is an Associate Professor of Music Education and Senior Division Head of Music Education at Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Music. She joined TTU in 2014 after faculty appointments at The University of Texas at Austin (2005-2013) and The Ohio State University (2000-2005).

Dr. Henninger’s research focuses on music teacher preparation, representation, affirmation, and belonging in music settings, and the teaching and learning of culturally diverse music. Her work explores equity in music education, particularly through the lens of global cultural practices and social justice. She has presented her findings at state, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Henninger has been honored with the Chancellor's Council Distinguished Teaching Award (2025), inducted into the TTU Teaching Academy (2018), and received the TTU Alumni Association New Faculty Award (2018). She actively contributes to the field through editorial roles on journals and leadership positions in professional organizations, including serving as Board Advisor for the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE) and multiple executive roles with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) – Texas.

Dr. Henninger mentors graduate students in music education, guiding examinations, projects, theses, and dissertations. She maintains strong ties to K-12 education as an adjudicator, guest clinician, and conductor, while also contributing book chapters such as The Teaching and Learning of Music of East Africa: Songs and Dances of Tanzania (Routledge) and an upcoming chapter on motherhood in academia (Oxford Press).
