Dr. Jacob Womack is the Joseph F. Marsh Endowed Associate Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Fine Arts and Communication at Concord University. He joined the faculty in 2013 and teaches courses in applied piano, group piano, music history, elementary music education, and introduction to music. He also serves as collaborative pianist for the music program and university carillonneur.
- Education: D.M.A. (West Virginia University), M.M. (Pennsylvania State University), B.M. (West Virginia University).
His research and presentations focus on jazz/classical piano performance, group piano pedagogy, practice strategies, and autism spectrum disorder in music education. He has presented at NAfME, MTNA, and National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy.
- Awards: 2021 WVMTA Distinguished Leader of the Year, 2020 Presidential Excellence Award, and 2019 WVMTA Teacher of the Year.
Leadership roles include MTNA National Certification Commissioner for Piano (2019–2021), WVMTA President (2015–2017), and current treasurer and certification chair for WVMTA.
Performance highlights include appearances at Carnegie Hall, Tamarack, and regional institutions. His primary teachers were Dr. James Miltenberger, Dr. Steven Smith, and Marylène Dosse.
