Jacob A Hinkson is a Lecturer in the Department of Liberal Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). He specializes in film studies, focusing on film noir, Hollywood studio systems, and genre analysis. His courses emphasize writing-intensive exploration of cinematic aesthetics and historical contexts.
Education: BA in Columbia College (2003), MFA from University of North Carolina at Wilmington (2006).
Research & Publications: Authored works include The Blind Alley: Exploring Film Noir's Forgotten Corners (essay collection), novels Hell On Church Street and The Posthumous Man, and a short story collection The Deepening Shade: New And Collected Stories. His articles appear in The Los Angeles Review of Books, Mental Floss, Mystery Scene, and Noir City.
