Jack Williamson serves as a Knowledge Exchange Associate at the University of Strathclyde's Department of Economics within the Fraser of Allander Institute. Holding an MSc in Applied Economics (2022) and BA in Economics (2021) from the same institution, he specializes in economic modeling focused on environmental and energy policy.
His research interests include:
- Offshore wind and renewable energy technologies
- Emissions measurement and target-setting frameworks
- Industrial strategy development
- Input-Output analysis methodologies
- Economic impact assessment for policy decisions
Williamson leads knowledge exchange initiatives examining economic impacts of renewable energy, with recent publications analyzing offshore wind benefits in Northern Ireland and multi-rotor wind turbine economics. His research demonstrates strong alignment with energy transition modeling and policy evaluation.
As Principal Investigator on multiple government-funded projects including The Economic Contribution of BATF Industries to the UK Economy (2025-2026) and UKEF Economic Impact IO Model Review (2023-2024), he manages significant knowledge exchange contracts with entities like UK Export Finance and the Scottish Government.
He actively participates in the Scottish Government's Input-Output Expert User Group and contributes to public outreach through events like the Economic Futures Careers Fair and post-budget analysis podcasts.
