Jack Hartnell is an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of East Anglia, affiliated with the School of History and Art History and the Department of Art History & World Art Studies. His research focuses on premodern science, medicine, and technology's visual culture, with a recent emphasis on Jewish art and medieval material studies. He holds honorary and advisory roles, including Senior Adviser for student pastoral care in his School and leadership in REF29 initiatives.
Expertise includes cross-continental visual culture, medical history, and the intersection of art with science. Notable works include *Medieval Bodies* (2018), a critically acclaimed study translated into 8 languages. Awards include the 2019 Dibner Fellowship at the Huntington Library.
