J. Michael Beman

J. Michael Beman is an Associate Professor at the University of California, Merced, within the Department of Life & Environmental Sciences, School of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on microbial ecology and biogeochemistry, particularly in aquatic systems such as high-altitude lakes in the Sierra Nevada, tropical oceans, and marine lakes in Palau. He investigates how microbial communities influence global biogeochemical cycles, including nitrogen cycling and greenhouse gas emissions under climate change.
