Iyiola Solanke is Jacques Delors Professor of European Union Law at the University of Oxford and Fellow of Somerville College. She previously held positions at Leeds University and has been a visiting professor at Harvard, Wake Forest, and University of Hawaii.
Her research examines EU law through critical frameworks including anti-discrimination law, intersectionality, and decolonial theory. Current projects analyze weight-based discrimination, the impact of Brexit on minority communities, and decolonization of European legal frameworks.
She leads significant research initiatives including:
- ESRC-funded Co-POWeR project on COVID-19 impacts on BAME communities
- Generation Delta promoting PGR access for BAME women
She founded the Black Female Professors Forum to increase visibility of women professors of color and chaired the UCL Eugenics Inquiry. Her publications employ socio-legal and comparative methodologies across anti-discrimination law, EU governance, and critical race theory.
