Ivar Björnsson is a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Structural Engineering at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH). He is a member of the LTH Profile Area: Circular Building Sector and serves as a System administrator in the Academic Development Unit. His research focuses on structural safety, risk, reliability, and robustness in engineering design, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
His academic projects include studies on resource efficiency in infrastructure, climate change impacts on concrete bridges, and service life management of structures. Notable collaborations involve institutions like the Swedish Transport Administration and Vinnova. He has received the Best Research into Practice Paper Prize 2019 for his work on structural design principles.
