Professor Ismene Gizelis is a faculty member in the Department of Government at the University of Essex. Her research focuses on conflict dynamics, peacekeeping, gender equality, post-conflict reconstruction, and communicable diseases. She holds a PhD and MA in Political Science and Economics from Claremont Graduate University. Her work includes co-editing volumes on gender and peacebuilding, and she has led major grants like the ERC-funded 'Peacekeeping Dividends' project. She serves on editorial boards for journals such as International Interactions and Journal of Peace Research.
