Isilay Taban McQuade is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Brighton's School of Business and Law, where she contributes to the Law, Society and Justice Research Excellence Group. She joined the university in 2021, bringing experience from her prior role as a Doctoral Tutor at the University of Sussex (2017–2021). Her academic work is deeply rooted in human rights, minority rights, and refugee law, with a focus on the protection of cultural identity among minority-refugees in Europe.

Her recent publications analyze the EU Migration Pact and the legal rights of minority-refugees, reflecting a strong trend toward policy critique, international legal frameworks, and the sociocultural dimensions of migration. These works emphasize intersectionality, diversity management, and institutional accountability.
