Ishmael Tingbani is an Associate Professor in Accounting at Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. He earned his PhD from the Centre of Finance and Risk at Bournemouth Business School and holds a Master's degree in Banking and Finance from Bangor University along with an undergraduate degree in economics. He is a qualified Chartered Banker, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and Member of the Institute of Environment Management and Assessment.
His research interests span Artificial Intelligence, Fintech, Crypto Currency, Blockchain, and Predictive Analytics within the accounting and finance domains. He focuses on exploring the implications of emerging technologies on modern finance and accounting systems, the financial impacts of sustainability reporting, economic value-based analysis, financial market reactions to corporate governance changes, environmental sustainability, fiscal policies, and corporate finance issues.
His recent publications demonstrate strong interdisciplinary work spanning finance, sustainability, and technology. His research shows a clear trend toward examining how technological innovations like AI and blockchain intersect with traditional financial systems and sustainability reporting. His work frequently addresses practical business challenges in developing economies, particularly in Africa.

Tingbani has supervised multiple PhD students to completion and serves as an external examiner at other institutions. He has received research grants totaling over £150k and has examined and successfully supervised PhDs in his research areas. His teaching spans accounting and finance, including Quantitative Research Methods, Management Accounting, Environmental Reporting, Advanced Accounting Theory and Practice, Money, Banking and Financial Services, and Corporate Finance.
