Isabelle de Vendeuvre

Isabelle de Vendeuvre is an Associate Professor affiliated with the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) and a member of the LPM team. She holds a doctorate in General and Comparative Literature and previously served as Director of International Relations at ENS from 2009 to 2015.

Her research focuses on satire in 19th- and 20th-century fiction, addressing ethical and aesthetic issues across novels and short stories. She explores phenomena of generic hybridization and naïvety in literature, with a particular emphasis on thalassopoetics—the literary representation of the sea and maritime themes.

Her latest publication (2025) examines the intersection of thalassopoetics and War and Culture Studies through the lens of Jules Verne’s works, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to literature and cultural analysis.
