Jean-Charles Darmon

Jean-Charles Darmon serves as Professor and Director of the Literature and Language Department at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS), where he also holds dual leadership roles as Deputy Director of the LPM laboratory since January 1, 2019, and Head of the CRRLPM research unit.

His research traverses the complex intersections of literature with philosophical frameworks, moral systems, and scientific discourses during the Classical Age. Key thematic investigations include:

• Epistemological tensions between literature and philosophy
• Ethical dimensions of literary production in historical contexts
• Scientific paradigms reflected in classical literary works
• Skeptical and Epicurean traditions in literary thought

Within institutional structures, Darmon directs the CRRLPM research cluster while actively contributing to the LPM laboratory's interdisciplinary initiatives, focusing on classical period scholarship through combined literary-philosophical methodologies.
