معرفی
Isabelle Winder is a Senior Lecturer in Zoology at Bangor University's School of Environmental & Natural Sciences, where she serves as Director of Equality and Diversity. She maintains active external affiliations as Academic Visitor at Hull-York Medical School, Research Associate at the University of York, and Honorary Research Associate at the University of Liverpool.
Her research spans evolutionary anthropology, primatology, functional morphology, and biogeography, with dual focuses on primate locomotion evolution through morphometrics and niche modelling of primate distributions. She additionally investigates science education and anthropology of science, co-authoring The Behavioural Ecology of Project-Based Science and leading AI-integrated educational initiatives.
Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal strong interdisciplinary trends: evolutionary biology works examine primate ecology and snake phylogenetics, while educational research pioneers generative AI applications in multimodal learning. This dual trajectory bridges biological sciences with pedagogical innovation, emphasizing practical applications for human evolution reconstruction and modern teaching methodologies.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Bangor University Teaching Fellowship (2022)
- Curl Lecture 2025 (2025)
- 'Making the Difference' Award (2013)
- Folia Primatologica Editor's Choice (2014)
- Royal Anthropological Institute Curl Lectureship (2024)
Dr Winder actively supervises PhD students in evolutionary anthropology and primatology while securing significant grants including a SEDA-funded project on AI-enhanced multimodal learning (2024-2025) and Advance HE's Communities of Practice toolkit development. Her 73 publications and 25 professional activities demonstrate sustained research leadership across biological and educational domains.
Collaborative networks define her work, particularly through the Anatomical Society membership and cross-institutional projects with York and Liverpool universities, focusing on evolutionary systems analysis and educational transformation in the AI era.
