Isabel Lladó Sampol

Dr. Isabel Lladó Sampol is a Professor in the Department of Fundamental Biology and Health Sciences at the University of Illes Balears (UIB). She leads the Energy Metabolism and Nutrition research group (GMEIN), affiliated with the Balearic Islands Health Research Institute (IdISBa) and the CIBER Center for Obesity and Nutrition. Her research focuses on biochemical and molecular mechanisms in nutrition-related diseases, particularly the role of sex hormones in metabolic syndrome and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Her work explores: estrogen modulation of mitochondrial pathology, adipose tissue secretory function, and adipokine effects on cardiovascular systems. She has directed 8 doctoral theses and tutored over 35 master’s and bachelor’s theses across five academic years.
