Iro Karagianni

Dr. Iro Karagianni is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance, specializing in the Department of International and European Law. Her research focuses on financial law, the regulation and supervision of financial markets and institutions, enforcement of European law, and the European protection of fundamental rights.

• Education: LL.M in Law and Economics and LL.M in Legal Research from Utrecht University

Her work explores the integration of fundamental rights into EU law enforcement frameworks and examines due process in financial market supervision. She has contributed to projects analyzing the legal challenges of EU authorities like OLAF and the European Central Bank, particularly regarding evidence admissibility and cross-border enforcement.

Dr. Karagianni has participated in numerous academic activities, including conferences and workshops on EU banking supervision, enforcement challenges, and access to justice. She has been involved in projects funded by the EU and NWO, focusing on transnational law enforcement and regulatory harmonization.
