Irina Lokhtina

Dr Irina Lokhtina is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Leadership at the University of Central Lancashire, Cyprus (UCLan Cyprus), within the School of Business & Management. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Leicester (2015), MA in Management from the Baltic Academy of Tourism and Business (2007), and MSc in Social Psychology from Saint Petersburg State University (2004). Her academic career includes roles as a Research Associate (2015–2016) and Visiting Scholar at Newman University, Birmingham (2015).

Research interests focus on workplace learning, mentoring, career development, and strategic HRM in higher education. Key roles include Module Leader for Managing People (MBA) and Human Resource Management (MBA online), alongside administrative duties as Student Advisor and co-organizer of research seminar series. Awards include the Best Poster Award (University of Leicester, 2014) and grants from the Klaus Jacobs Foundation (2017). Professional memberships include the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction and the International Research Group on Researcher Education and Careers.

Publications span academic journals like Frontline Learning Research and Innovations in Education and Teaching International, with recent work addressing Gen Y competencies, academic identity reconstruction, and remote doctoral supervision challenges. She contributes to knowledge transfer initiatives, serves as a certified HRDA Trainer, and collaborates with institutions like the University of Cyprus and ICAEW.
