معرفی
Iredia Iyamu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the School of Pharmacy, University of Kansas. Her research focuses on developing chemical probes for disease targets, particularly in epigenetics and protein methylation. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northeastern University (2016) and completed postdoctoral training at Purdue University (2023) and Northwestern University (2019).
Research Interests: Her lab integrates chemistry, bioinformatics, and molecular biology to design inhibitors targeting methyltransferases (e.g., NNMT, PRMT), acetyltransferases, and protein-protein interactions. Key applications include drug discovery for cancer, neurological disorders, and parasitic diseases like malaria. Recent work emphasizes high-throughput screening and fragment-based lead discovery.
Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2016, with a focus on enzyme inhibition mechanisms, small molecule design, and translational drug development. Notable contributions include NNMT bisubstrate inhibitors and TRIP8b-HCN channel modulators.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Iyamu Lab at KU, collaborating with chemists, biochemists, and clinicians to bridge chemical tool development and biological function studies. Active in grant-funded projects addressing epigenetic therapies and antimalarial agents.
