Ioannis Kokkalis serves as Assistant Professor of Sculpture in the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences at the University of Ioannina. He maintains his studio in the A' Residences Building on the ground floor and teaches within the Sculpture program, with office hours Monday 09:00-12:00.
His artistic research centers on Sculpture and Kinetic Art, with significant bodies of work in Installation Art, Inflatable Art, Photography, and Video Art. Kokkalis emphasizes that art originates in the viewer's consciousness, creating open visual stimuli that balance structure and spontaneity. His notable series include Eggs, Inflatables, and kinetic assemblies exploring materials like epoxy resin, iron, bronze, and PLA through dynamic interactions.
The artist operates from the Sculpture Studio at the University of Ioannina, where he develops both pedagogical and creative projects. His works have been exhibited internationally, documented through catalogues, posters, and an extensive online portfolio showcasing installations like Landscape Loop, Egyptian Vulture, and the xipnima series.
