Ioannis Kanellos is a Researcher affiliated with the School of Education & Lifelong Learning at the University of East Anglia (UEA). He holds an EdD from UEA (2014) and has taught in secondary schools in Greece and Germany. Currently, he serves as Secondary Education Advisor (Mathematics) in Crete, Greece, focusing on students’ first encounters with formal mathematical reasoning. He is a member of the Hellenic Mathematical Society and actively contributes to the Research in Mathematics Education (RME) group at UEA.

His research interests revolve around mathematical proof, deductive reasoning in adolescents, and teacher professional development. He explores how students develop proof schemes and readiness for formal reasoning, with a focus on classroom dynamics and argumentation strategies.
