Ioana Jipa-Musat

Ioana Jipa-Musat is a Lecturer in International Business and Strategy at Royal Holloway University of London (joined 2023). She holds a PhD in Business Management (2020) from Queen Mary University of London, specializing in comparative political economy, international business, and business history. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher and Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London (2020–2023), with a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Global Governance of Migration (2023).

Her research focuses on economic transformation and institutional change in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly Romania. Key areas include political economy, industrial organization of coal mining, automotives, and business services, and the intersection of global crises, labor migration, and business models. Recent work examines temporary labor migration schemes through a sectoral lens, with collaborations at the International Labour Organization (ILO) and global trade unions. She is developing an ESRC grant application with interdisciplinary teams.

Ioana is affiliated with the Centre on Labour, Sustainability and Global Production (CLaSP). Her work appears in Environment and Planning A and European Urban and Regional Studies. She teaches courses on global political economy, supply chains, corporate governance, and business ethics, and earned an Advance HE Fellowship (2024).
