معرفی
Intawat Nookaew is a Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) with primary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Informatics and secondary appointment in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology, both within the College of Medicine. His research spans genomics, bioinformatics, and bone biology, with significant contributions to understanding musculoskeletal diseases and metabolic pathways.
Research interests focus on:
- Bone biology including osteocyte function, mesenchymal cell differentiation, and skeletal development
- Genomics and transcriptomics using high-throughput sequencing (e.g., Nanopore technology)
- Virology and host-pathogen interactions, particularly in HCV and cancer-associated viruses
- Computational biology for analyzing complex biological systems and microbial communities
Dr. Nookaew leads multiple NIH-funded projects, including:
- Center for Musculoskeletal Disease Research (CMDR) as Principal Investigator
- Studies on RANKL signaling in osteoclasts (R01AR082418)
- Research on type I collagen mutations in lung development (R01HL166748)
- Investigations into multiple myeloma bone disease (R01CA209882)
His recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on bone microenvironment dynamics, cancer metastasis mechanisms, and innovative sequencing applications. Collaborative work includes interdisciplinary studies on metabolic disorders, microbial genomics, and diagnostic tool development.
