Prof Innocent Chiluwa is a Professor at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, currently engaged in academic collaboration with Katerina Strani at the School of Social Sciences, Languages & Intercultural Studies, Heriot-Watt University, as a visiting academic from February 2024 to August 2025. His work is internationally recognized, particularly in the areas of discourse analysis and digital activism.

Prof Chiluwa's recent scholarly activities focus on the role of digital platforms in sociopolitical discourse, especially how hashtag movements shape public opinion and resistance. His current projects analyze the linguistic and ideological dimensions of online hate speech and activism, bridging sociolinguistics and political engagement in the digital age.
The trend in his recent work emphasizes interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of language, power, and digital media. His publications in preparation explore how marginalized communities use social media for resistance and how hate speech is discursively constructed in online spaces.
