Ingvild Myhre Ekeberg serves as a Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo, within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Her academic journey at the University of Oslo includes a Bachelor of Science (2017) and a Master of Science (2019) in Ecology and Evolution, where her master's research examined natural selection effects across life stages in Italian sparrows (Passer italiae).
Research Focus: Dr. Ekeberg's primary research interests lie in evolutionary biology, with specific emphasis on population genomics and speciation processes. She employs two wood decay fungi species, Trichaptum abietinum and Meruliopsis taxicola, as model organisms to explore speciation in reverse, reinforcement of reproductive barriers, and hybridization. Her work also encompasses biogeography and fungal genomics.
Academic Affiliations: She is an active member of the Oslo Mycology Group (OMG) and participates in the Speciomics research project. Her current position as a Doctoral Research Fellow is supported by these collaborative frameworks, which provide the foundation for her doctoral studies on fungal speciation mechanisms.
