Ingemar Johansson Sevä is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Umeå University, Sweden. His research focuses on environmental sociology, political sociology, social policy, and welfare state analysis with particular attention to climate policy, public opinion dynamics, and well-being studies. He is affiliated with research groups including Climate and Environmental Sociology, Political Sociology, Social Policy and Welfare, and Sociology of Health, Well-being, and Quality of Life. His work examines topics such as right-wing populism’s impact on climate policy support, pandemic behavior, welfare privatization attitudes, and the relationship between personality traits and life satisfaction.
Key research projects include studies on political trust and environmental taxation, aging and health inequalities, and cross-national differences in environmental attitudes. His recent publications address topics like pandemic behavior, climate policy perceptions, and entrepreneurial well-being. Johansson Sevä holds a Docent (associate professor) qualification and has contributed to both academic journals and policy-relevant reports.
His interdisciplinary approach integrates sociology, political science, and psychology to analyze societal challenges, emphasizing contextual factors such as local environments and institutional quality. Current projects span 2017–2026, focusing on decoupling economic growth from environmental harm, climate policy trust dynamics, and welfare opinion formation.
