Ragnar Lundström is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology at Umeå University. His research focuses on media discourse analysis, moral panics, environmental sociology, and social movements. He leads projects on green transitions in the workforce, digital democracy, and media representations of crime victims. Lundström is affiliated with research groups in Criminology, Digital Sociology, and the Sociology of Work.
Key research interests include analyzing how media constructs narratives around societal issues like welfare fraud, pandemic responses, and gender equality in education. He has published extensively on topics such as victimization discourse, climate change policy in labor unions, and online peer support systems. Current projects include 'Green Transformation and Sustainable Working Life' and 'Cyborg Politics: A study of artificial agents in online democratic deliberation.'
Lundström's work bridges theoretical sociology with applied research, addressing contemporary challenges through interdisciplinary approaches. He holds a Docent qualification (Swedish higher research degree) and has collaborated on EU-funded initiatives exploring sustainable practices and digital activism.
