Ines Merbach

Dr. Ines Merbach is a Senior Scientist and Head of the Experimental Station Bad Lauchstädt at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). She holds a Diploma in Agriculture (1984) and a PhD in Plant Production from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (1987), focusing on herbicide effects on plant species. Her research spans agricultural ecology, soil science, and community ecology, with a focus on ecological interactions and environmental management. She leads interdisciplinary studies at the Experimental Station, a key facility for ecological research and experimentation.

Professional roles include Head of Experimental Station Bad Lauchstädt since 2012, Technical Coordinator, and prior positions at UFZ and Research Centre of Soil Fertility.
