Taimur Khan is a Data Scientist at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), part of the Department of Community Ecology. His work focuses on creating digital twins of ecological systems using data science, remote sensing, and high-performance computing. He specializes in deep learning for tree crown detection and integrates drone-based imagery into computational workflows.
He is pursuing an M.Sc. in Earth System Data Science and Remote Sensing at Leipzig University. Current projects include Biodiversity Meets Data (2025), led by Prof. Dr. Ingolf Kühn and Dr. Sonja Knapp. His expertise spans GPU-accelerated computing, multispectral/hyperspectral imagery analysis, and biodiversity monitoring.
