Ifeoluwa Adeniyi serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Winnipeg, where she maintains an office in the Ashdown building (3A16). She holds a PhD in English from the University of Manitoba, establishing her foundation in literary scholarship and creative practice.

Research Interests: Dr. Adeniyi's scholarly work centers on creative writing, African literatures, and the literary expressions of the African and Black diaspora. She specializes in Afrofuturism and Black speculative fiction, with dedicated focus on Black women’s writing. Her research bridges creative production with critical analysis of identity, representation, and narrative forms across global Black literary traditions, emphasizing decolonial perspectives and cultural resilience.

Publications: Her debut novel On the Bank of the River (2015) exemplifies her engagement with Nigerian storytelling traditions and diasporic narratives. Collectively, her creative and scholarly output reveals consistent exploration of speculative elements within African contexts, women's voices in postcolonial literature, and the intersections of oral tradition with contemporary fiction. This body of work contributes significantly to expanding canonical boundaries in literary studies.

Professional Background: Prior to academia, Dr. Adeniyi worked as a radio presenter in Nigeria, bringing practical communication expertise and cultural insight to her interdisciplinary teaching approach within the Cultural Studies program.
