معرفی
Ifan Hughes is a Professor at the Department of Physics, Durham University, and serves as Head of the Quantum, Light & Matter group. His research focuses on experimental atomic physics, particularly ultracold atom dynamics and atom-light interactions in thermal ensembles.
Hughes has been involved in advanced laboratory instrumentation, including the development of magneto-optical filters, atomic vapor cells, and automated laser alignment systems. He coordinates Level 2 Laboratory Skills, teaches Level 4 Atoms, Photons and Qubits (APQ), and supervises postgraduate researchers.
His recent publications explore hot atomic vapor spectroscopy, magneto-optical rotation, and nanoscale atom-surface interactions. Key methodologies include laser locking systems, Faraday effect characterization, and computational modeling of atomic coherence.
