معرفی
Dr Steven Wrathmall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Durham University, contactable via +44 (0) 191 33 43763 or s.a.wrathmall@durham.ac.uk. His research spans atomic and molecular physics with applications in quantum optics and astrophysics.
His primary research interests include Atom-light interactions within thermal atomic vapours, Physics of ultra cold atoms and molecules, Quantum nonlinear dynamics, Atomic and Molecular Collisions, and Interstellar Physics. He employs experimental laser spectroscopy techniques alongside theoretical modeling to investigate atomic vapor systems and quantum phenomena.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications (2007-2025) reveals consistent focus on atomic spectroscopy, quantum optical phenomena, and computational methods. Key trends include buffer gas effects in alkali vapors, magneto-optical filter design, machine learning applications in physics, and interdisciplinary work like geographical language modeling. His SAMNet collaboration demonstrates space weather monitoring expertise.
Dr Wrathmall supervises postgraduate researchers Jack Briscoe and Sharaa Alqarni while contributing to departmental administration through MySQL/PHP database systems for teaching. He maintains active collaborations with I. G. Hughes and S. A. Gardiner within Durham's atomic physics group.
